IAA Mobility 2025 in Munich: a trade show focused on the future of mobility

From September 8th-14th, Munich will host a new edition of IAA Mobility 2025 Munich, one of the global automotive industry’s most attended events. More than just a traditional trade show, the event aims to showcase the technologies and trends that are already redefining mobility of tomorrow.

Two complementary worlds

As with the previous edition, the IAA is spread across two separate areas:

  • IAA Summit: located at the Messe München exhibition centre, it is mainly aimed at industry professionals. The exhibits focus on key technologies: IoT connectivity and big data, software-defined vehicles, decarbonization, autonomous driving, smart urban mobility, and battery innovations. A few car manufacturers are also represented, but the focus remains on innovation.
  • IAA Open Space: free of charge and in the heart of Munich, it follows the format of traditional motor shows. Major manufacturers unveil their latest innovations to the general public on the streets of the city.

A total of 750 exhibitors are participating this year, with a particularly strong presence from Chinese companies, who account for 68% of the exhibits.

An experiential lounge

IAA Mobility is not limited to static vehicle displays. The organizers have placed an emphasis on the visitor experience:

  • Test drives: More than 200 models from 22 manufacturers are available for test drives. Visitors can take the wheel of the latest models from Audi, BYD, Ford, Hyundai, KIA, Mercedes-Benz, Polestar, Porsche, and Volkswagen on the streets of Munich.
  • Autonomous driving: An area dedicated to ADAS systems and telematics allows visitors to discover the advances made by major automotive players such as Aumovio (Continental), Innoviz Technologies, and Magna.
  • Micromobility: A specialized circuit is reserved for testing bicycles and light vehicles in a natural environment.

  • A focus on electric vehicles: nearly 75% of the models on display are electric vehicles, confirming the central role of electromobility.
  • Expected new releases: the show features 10 world premieres, including the Renault Clio 6, BMW iX3, Mercedes GLC EQ, Volkswagen T-Roc, Kia EV4 and Porsche 911 Turbo S.
  • Innovative concept cars: 12 prototypes are on display, including the Renault Emblème, the Audi Concept C, the Volkswagen ID Cross and the Cupra Tindaya.

An event that attracts a large audience

Present at the event, Lizeo was able to observe the innovations and major announcements of this edition up close. It was a unique opportunity to meet the major players in the automotive ecosystem and discuss the issues that are profoundly transforming the mobility of tomorrow.

With 500,000 visitors expected over the week, IAA Mobility is establishing itself as a hybrid event, a cross between a trade show and a major mobility festival. The spectacular stands of prestigious manufacturers such as Mercedes, BMW and Porsche are sure to attract enthusiasts, while the technological innovation zones will appeal to industry experts.
